Here are more than 300 Tong Lau, or Chinese tenement buildings, built between 1940s-1970s which are still valid in the Sham Shui Po streetscape today. In order to acknowledge this unique building typology and empower the ones who live in them, we provide free workshops for participants to make these 1:200 scale models. So through the process, they could have a better understanding of our local history, aesthetic and architecture. Each participant’s name is engraved on the model they complete, so eventually, we can see central Sham Shui Po built by “us” before any building is demolished by developers.
