Taken Wan Chai as a major base and disperse the “creative seeds” across the city. We foster collaboration between brands and organise activities related to creative designs, including creative markets, workshops, studio open days, exhibitions, sharing, talks, networking session, etc.
With the 50th Anniversary of Design Council of Hong Kong (DCHK), the D-exhibition will be organised to exhibit the most representative products of 17 awarded companies of the unprecedented D-Awards with the theme “Co-create a happy city of respect”.
Both D-Awards and D-exhibition aim to promote and recognise the importance and contribution of design in Hong Kong. They show how design helps resolve issues in the society, improve our living quality and advance civilisation.
The exhibition contains various categories of exhibits, covering the different needs of citizens. We believe design exists primarily to create a harmonious society. Even with changes over times, the goal of promoting a "happy city" still remains the same.

Design your city. Everyday touchpoints and interactions.
City Jam is a two-day, design-led hackathon. At it, experienced designers work together designing services for Hong Kong. Teams will develop concepts that look forward to the future of the city, while being founded in the reality of public services today.
——
Founded in real challenges
Experts will join at key moments to inform the designer’s process. Coming from the city’s biggest public service providers, they’ll add a dose of reality our the work.
Collision of minds
With designers and experts from all different backgrounds in the room, we’ll work across institutional boundaries to find the opportunities that lie in the gaps.
All the themes
Rather than pigeonholing our work into sectors, we are looking at a broad array of challenges all at once: housing, public space, mobility and utilities.
——
Why you should jam with us
Learn from each other.
Collaborate with the city’s best service and experience designers. Work together. Learn from each other. Break out of your day to day.
Everyday issues.
Get outside your routine topics, and work on things that affect everyone in the city everyday.
Meet the experts.
Get to know the people who make Hong Kong’s public services happen. Learn from what they know. Share your inspiration and ideas with them.
——
What are we working on?
We’ll design people-centric, future-facing services for Hong Kong.
Public space
Malls. Overhead walkways. Sitting-out areas. Sidewalks. Streets. Parks. Beaches. Plazas. Street cleaning. Benches. Playgrounds. Trash cans. Street lights. Public toilets. How do we use them? Why are there so many funny rules? What else is possible?
Public transport
Trams. Cars. Bus stops. Walkways. Push-carts. Bikes. MTR. Buses. Taxis. Taxi drivers. Gondolas. Stations and stops. Stairs. Airports. Feet. How do we get around the city? How do we move stuff? What else is possible?
Public Services
Police. Fire department. Libraries. Post offices. Water. Electricity. Landlines. Mobile phones. Internet. Gas. Pipes. Wires. How do we access public services? How do we interface with them? Is there anything else we all need?

Design companies and manufacturing firms make up a significant portion of Hong Kong economy. This project aims to simultaneously promote the design industry and the manufacturing sector of Hong Kong in two mainland cities—Shenzhen and Chengdu—for the dual-brand of “Designed by Hong Kong” & “Made by Hong Kong” to tap into the mainland market.
By setting up six-month product showrooms in Shenzhen and Chengdu, and the Hong Kong pavilion at the Chengdu Creativity & Design Week, the project offers Hong Kong design and manufacturing companies an avenue to leverage on the environment and resources it provides.
Based on cross-region and cross-sector collaborations, the showrooms are the perfect venues to display brand collaborations. Networking workshops and seminars are also held monthly.
The Hong Kong companies can also take the opportunities to take part in a collaboration programme with the Association for Creative Education and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong, as well as brand-new collaboration projects in Shenzhen and Chengdu. Dissemination seminar will be held in Hong Kong in Summer 2019 to conclude the effort.
