Taken Wan Chai as a major base and disperse the “creative seeds” across the city. We foster collaboration between brands and organise activities related to creative designs, including creative markets, workshops, studio open days, exhibitions, sharing, talks, networking session, etc.
Over the past few years, our studio has been deeply involved in the discussion and creation of a new generation of urban social destinations. As part of the BODW satellite programme, we will revisit our major projects in the Asia Pacific Region, including the Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts as well as RYSE Hotel in Seoul, South Korea—taking a close look at how within just 6 months of launching, these dynamic platforms have impacted their respective sectors and beyond.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the death of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Gran Duo Italiano presents a programme dedicated to the great Italian composer, pianist and writer.
The unpublished works for violin and piano by Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco (Florence, 3 Aprile 1895 - Beverly Hills, 16 March 1968) is, at least in Italy, associated closely with his compositions for guitar and his relationship with Andrés Segovia for a period of over 30 years. However, a part of his significant output of chamber music is reserved to violin and piano and it is the result of more than 40 years of collaboration with the great violinist Jascha Heifetz. Many of these works remain handwritten and unpublished. They have been recorded for the first time by Gran Duo Italiano for the recording house Brilliant in a double CD that was released in September 2018.
Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco:
Canto all'aria aperta n. 1 – "La sera per il fresco è un bel cantare"
Tango op. 24b
Ritmi op. 15
Capitan Fracassa op. 16
Notturno Adriatico op. 34
"The Daughter of the Regiment" – paraphrase on themes by Donizetti
(Overture - Romance - Valse - Tyrolienne - Rataplan)
"Figaro" – paraphrase from the “Barber of Seville” by Rossini

“An evening with Spellbound” collects a list of successful choreographies presented in Italian and international theatres. The different pieces suggest themes that develop around known and mysterious stories that speak with the choreographic language of Mauro Astolfi, showing the various facets of his creativity. This simple but effective format has allowed in recent years to build specific programmes adapting to the country and festival hosting the performances. Using small cameos mixed with more choral creations, the Company presents to different audiences the best of its recent productions. In this evening, conceived for the Asian tour closing the year, Spellbound has decided to dedicate the final part of the programme to the famous composer Gioachino Rossini, whom Spellbound paid homage to with a successful creation produced in 2018 on commission and co-production with the Municipality of Pesaro as part of the Official Celebrations of the Rossini Centenaries. The closing of this programme, with excerpts from the creation "Rossini Overtures" is made possible thanks to the contribution of SIAE SILLUMINA in the project "Sillumina - Private copy for young people, for culture".

What is Pastel Nagomi Art? "Nagomi" is a "harmony" in the Japanese characters. It is created by the Japanese teacher Hosoya Norikatsu and founded the Japan Pastel Hope Art Association (JPHAA). Giving hope to a healing art, when he was a pioneer, because his friend was in the hospital, Mr. Hoso gave him a harmonious pink of cherry blossoms and told him to go to the hospital to see the real cherry blossoms. It brings a hope to the patient and is what the founder wants to share. And he hopes to make beautiful paintings at any age, with no painting experience, and without too many tools.

“We are so accustomed to ignoring the information we are constantly surrounded by,” says artist Ernest Chang about his upcoming show at KONG Art Space (23rd & 24th Nov) & The Stallery WCH (25th Nov Until 21st Dec), boldly titled “TEAR & CONSUME” aka “T&C”. “I want to challenge people to confront this default passivity—by physically, tactilely, engaging with my works to find out what they’re not seeing.”
Each of the 10 original works in the show, while featuring a brightly colored painting of an anime character on the surface, hides seven more layers of deconstructed real estate advertising images and “terms and conditions” documents underneath. These texts and images—which we all habitually ignore due to their ubiquity—physically underlie the colorful cartoon on the surface, highlighting our almost childish instinct to pay attention only to the gaudiest images in our surroundings while ignoring what is important. The base layer of each work, making up a total of nine layers, is a blank canvas, representing what the artist calls “the possibility for freedom once we take charge of what we see.”
The layers underneath the anime painting will not remain hidden: “TEAR & CONSUME” will involve viewers in a live act of performance art, inviting them to tear apart the works physically(only at KONG Art Space) and confront what they have missed underneath.

In Hong Kong, waste pickers are one of the major contributors to the recycling industry. They collect up to 193 tons of recycling papers or cardboard every year, which accounts to 20% of the total volume of Municipal Solid Waste recycled. Statistically, most of the waste pickers aged over 60 years old. They are on the front line to tackle our municipal waste problem by sorting out the recyclables, yet, they are usually being socially excluded because of its adverse nature of work. How could we support this group of “recycling heroes” to improve their working conditions?
Join our brainstorming workshop to explore any possible and practical ways to bring back decent working conditions for our “recycling heroes”!
